Frequently asked

How do I save an article?

In Safari or any app with a Share button, tap Share and choose UmiRead. If you don’t see it, scroll to the end of the app row, tap More and add UmiRead.

On Mac, use the Share button in Safari’s toolbar. You can also paste a link into UmiRead with the + button.

My articles don’t show up on my other devices.

Check that you’re signed in with the same Apple Account on all devices, that iCloud is turned on for UmiRead in your iCloud settings, and that iCloud Sync is on in UmiRead’s settings. Syncing needs a connection on both devices and can take a moment after saving.

Why didn’t an article load properly?

Some pages sit behind a paywall, need a sign-in, or build their content in a way that can’t be turned into a clean reading view. Tap “Open Original” to read it on the website. If you were offline, UmiRead tries again automatically once you’re back online.

Sharing the page from Safari after it has loaded often helps, because UmiRead then uses Safari’s copy. You can also turn on “Load from archive.today” when saving, or tap “Try archive.today” on the error screen.

Can I read offline?

Yes. Text and images are stored on your device when you save an article, so everything in your library is available without a connection.

How much iCloud storage does UmiRead use?

Mostly images. UmiRead’s settings show how much space your library takes and let you remove images from archived articles while keeping the text and your highlights.

Can you see what I save?

No. Your library lives on your devices and in your private iCloud. There are no UmiRead servers and no analytics. Details are in the privacy policy.

Which devices show summaries?

Summaries and tag suggestions use Apple Intelligence and run entirely on your device. They appear on devices that support Apple Intelligence when it’s turned on. Everywhere else, UmiRead simply hides them.

How do I delete all my data?

Delete articles in the app, or remove all UmiRead data from iCloud in your iCloud storage settings. Deleting the app removes the copy on that device.

Still stuck?

Email [email protected] with a bug, a question or an idea. It helps to include your device, its system version and – if an article is the problem – the link.
